What cup size should I choose?

Customers are constantly asking us if we can make them some regular size paper coffee cups. We are happy for every inquiry. After all, it's our job. One of our first questions to a customer is. What size cup do you need? The answer is always "just a regular size". You might think that's a simple question, but it's not. Everyone's normal size is different.

The three most popular sizes of paper cups are usually 8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz. Unfortunately, what is considered "regular size" in one coffee shop may be something completely different in the coffee shop around the corner.

Some cafes will have small cups in the 8oz size, regular size 12oz cups and large paper cups in the 16oz size, but other cafes will offer 8oz, large 12oz and extra large in the 16oz size as the regular cup size. So which of these would you consider the "regular" cup size? It's always important to know the volume of the cup as well, and think about what type and size of coffee you sell most often in your café.

To help you out a little more, we always list the maximum and recommended paper cup capacity along with the common 8 oz, 12 oz and 16 oz cups.

4 oz paper cups - recommended volume 80ml - maximum volume 118ml
8 oz paper cups - recommended volume 250ml - maximum volume 290ml
10 oz paper cups - recommended volume 300ml - maximum volume 370ml
12 oz paper cups - recommended volume 350ml - maximum volume 450ml
16 oz paper cups - recommended volume 370ml - maximum volume 480ml

And to make things a little less complicated, you can also choose between a single-walled or double-walled (thermo) paper cup. But we'll write more about that in a future article.

We hope that this has helped you at least a little to get your bearings on what your "normal" paper coffee cup size is. If you need help choosing the right paper cup, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help you with your selection.
